LHS Boasts 9 National Merit Honorees

Our Lakewood High Semifinalists are part of an elite group of 16,000 Semifinalists from across the country whose PSAT scores in the 2025-2026 school year put them in the top tier of the more than 1.3 million students who took the PSAT. Semifinalists represent less than 1% of U. S. high school seniors and are the highest scoring entrants in their state. The number of Semifinalists named in each state is proportional to the state's percentage of the national total of graduating high school seniors.
Semifinalists are eligible to continue on in the competition in hopes of being named a Finalist and receiving one of nearly 6,700 scholarships worth nearly $24 million to be awarded in the spring. Finalists will be notified of this designation in February.
Lakewood High is also proud of its six Commended Students: Violet Donaldson, Alice Drickhamer, Bridget Katzenberger, Zoe Pierce, Caden Sandoval, and Olive Steinmuller.
About 34,000 Commended Students nationwide are honored each year for placing among the top scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT. Though our five Commended Students do not continue in the competition for scholarship awards, their recognition acknowledges their outstanding academic achievement and promise.
Congratulations to these nine academic standouts!
